After months of shielding him from public view, the royal family has released brand new photos of Prince Louis. The adorable pictures were shared in honor of the youngest royal’s first birthday on April 23, and they were shot by Kate Middleton herself at their home in Norfolk.
Kensington Palace posted the photos on their social media platforms, along with the caption: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to share three new photographs of Prince Louis ahead of his first birthday tomorrow.”

A source told People that Prince Louis is “the most cheerful, smiley little boy — he’s always so happy and content,” and the super cute photos are sure proof of that. The one year old is full of smiles in the portraits, wearing red and blue sweaters while playing outside.
“Spending quality time together is such an important aspect of family life,” the Duchess of Cambridge has said. “And for me, as a mother, it is the simple family moments like playing outside together that I cherish.”

xo,” Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, his uncle and aunt, commented from their official Instagram account.
While a lot of followers are also pointing out his resemblance to his siblings. “You can see both his brother and his sister in him,” wrote one. “Adorable! Looks like a perfect mix of all the Cambridges,” added another.
The first official photos of the third royal baby were released just two weeks after his birth, and they were also photographed by Middleton. The Duchess studied art history at the University of St. Andrews and has frequently shared photos she had taken of her two other children, Prince George (5) and Princess Charlotte (3). The last time we saw Prince Louis was in the royal family’s Christmas card, in which he’s sitting contently on Middleton’s lap and smiling right into the camera.
He’s a natural in front of the camera, that’s for sure.
