Not to alarm you, but it looks like Kate Middleton just dyed her hair blonde. The Duchess of Cambridge has always stuck to brunette shades, but in photos from the her engagement at the Natural History Museum yesterday, it appears her signature brown strands have been lightened to a honey-blonde hue — the lightest it’s been. So, needless to say, royal fans are freaking out over the hair transformation.
Take a look for yourself:

The Duchess looked effortless chic as she stepped out in a plum-colored top with a lettuce hem and olive trousers. These gorgeous autumnal tones make her lighter hair pop, drawing even more attention to the new look, which was style into her usual bouncy blowout.
Photos taken at different angles make it more apparent that the lighter look was achieved with allover honey-colored highlights and choppy layers that add dimension. Still, it’s a much blonder look than we’re used to it seeing on HRH, and warmer tones are perfect for the season ahead.

Royal fans first starting noticing a color change in September, after her children’s first day of school. At the time, it looked as though the Duchess was beginning to lighten her hair with subtler highlights. So, maybe this is a sign that she is slowly working her way to full-on blonde, which stylists say is the healthiest way to go about a major makeover.

Now one question remains: Do royal blondes really have more fun? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Either way, Middleton is looking radiant as ever this week as she prepares to embark on her royal tour of Pakistan.
